Order Tracking

After placing an order, customers can track its progress in real-time directly in their browser. This page covers the status stages, notifications, order history, and receipts.

Real-Time Status Updates

Once an order is placed, the customer sees a visual progress tracker that moves through five stages:

StageWhat It Means
ReceivedThe order has been submitted and is waiting for a staff member to acknowledge it
In ProgressA staff member has accepted the order and preparation is underway
Cooking DoneThe kitchen has finished preparing all items in the order
Ready for PickupThe order is complete and waiting for the customer to collect it
DeliveredThe customer has picked up their order and the transaction is complete

The progress tracker updates automatically — no page refresh needed. Each stage is shown visually so the customer can see at a glance how far along their order is.

info

Status updates are driven by your staff actions in OMS. When a staff member moves an order to the next stage, the customer's tracking view updates within seconds.

How It Works

The customer stays on the order confirmation page after placing their order. The page shows:

  • Their order number (used to identify the order at the counter)
  • A visual progress bar highlighting the current stage
  • The order summary with all items, customizations, and the total amount
  • The payment method used

Customers do not need to create an account or sign in to track an active order. The tracking page is available as long as they keep the browser tab open.

Email Notifications

Customers who provide their email address during checkout receive two notifications:

  1. Order Confirmation — sent immediately after the order is placed. Includes the order number, list of items, customizations, pricing breakdown, and payment method.

  2. Ready for Pickup — sent when your staff mark the order as "Ready for Pickup" in OMS. This prompts the customer to come and collect their order.

tip

Encourage customers to enter their email address at checkout. It allows them to step away from the counter and receive a notification when their food is ready, rather than waiting and watching their phone.

Order History

Customers can view their past orders across all CliqMenu businesses by signing in with Google. Order history includes:

  • Date and time of each order
  • Business and location name
  • Items ordered with customizations
  • Total amount paid
  • Order status

This is especially useful for returning customers who want to reorder favourite items or check a previous receipt.

note

Order history requires a Google sign-in. Orders placed without signing in are not linked to any account and cannot be retrieved later across devices. However, the customer can still see the current order on their active browser tab.

PDF Receipt

After an order is placed, customers can download a PDF receipt for their records. The receipt includes:

  • Business name and location
  • Order number and date
  • Itemized list with prices
  • Customizations and any surcharges
  • Tax (GST) breakdown
  • Total amount paid
  • Payment method

This is useful for customers who need receipts for expense tracking or reimbursement.

Tips for Business Owners

  • Process orders promptly in OMS — customers are watching the tracker, and long waits at the "Received" stage can cause anxiety
  • Move orders through stages accurately — skipping stages (e.g., jumping from "Received" to "Ready") can confuse customers
  • Use the "Ready for Pickup" stage consistently — this triggers the email notification that brings customers to the counter
