QR Codes

QR codes are how your customers discover and access your digital menu. Each location in your CliqMenu business gets its own unique QR code. When a customer scans it with their phone, your menu opens directly in their browser — no app download required.

How QR codes work

Your QR code contains your business and location information. When scanned:

  1. The customer's phone camera detects the QR code.
  2. Their browser opens automatically.
  3. Your menu loads instantly — showing your items, prices, and categories.
  4. The customer can browse, select items, and place an order right from their phone.

There is nothing for the customer to install, sign up for, or configure. It just works.

info

Each location has its own QR code. If you have multiple locations (e.g., two food trucks or a restaurant and a market stall), each one gets a separate QR code that links to the correct menu for that location.

Downloading your QR codes

  1. Navigate to QR Code in the side menu.
  2. Select the location you want the QR code for.
  3. Choose from 3 downloadable designs — each has a different visual style to suit your branding and display preferences.
  4. Click Download to save the QR code image to your device.

The downloaded image is high-resolution and ready for printing.

tip

Download all three designs and see which one looks best in your space. Some designs work better on table tents, while others look great framed on a wall or counter.

Where to display your QR codes

The more visible your QR code, the more customers will use it. Here are some popular options:

  • Table tents — print your QR code on a folded card and place one on each table. Great for dine-in restaurants and cafes.
  • Counter display — frame your QR code and place it at the ordering counter. Works well for takeaway-focused businesses.
  • Food truck window — attach your QR code to the serving window or side panel of your truck. Use a weather-resistant print or laminate it.
  • Market stall signage — include your QR code on your banner, menu board, or a standalone sign.
  • Receipts and flyers — print a small QR code on physical receipts or promotional flyers to encourage repeat visits.
  • Social media — share your QR code image on Instagram, Facebook, or other platforms so customers can save it for later.
note

Make sure your QR code is displayed at a comfortable scanning height and distance. Customers should be able to scan it by simply pointing their phone from about 30 cm (1 foot) away.

Testing your QR code

Before putting your QR code out for customers, always test it yourself:

  1. Open your phone's camera (or a QR scanner app).
  2. Point it at your QR code.
  3. Verify that your menu loads correctly — check that the right location's menu appears, prices are correct, and images display properly.
  4. Try placing a test order to confirm the full flow works.
tip

Test your QR code after making any changes to your menu or location settings. This ensures customers always see the latest version of your menu when they scan.

Frequently asked questions

Does the QR code change if I update my menu? No. Your QR code stays the same. It links to your live menu, so any changes you make in BMS are reflected automatically. You never need to reprint your QR code because of menu updates.

Can I use the same QR code for multiple locations? No. Each location has its own QR code. This ensures customers see the correct menu, pricing, and availability for the location they're visiting.

What if a customer's phone can't scan QR codes? Most modern smartphones (2018 and newer) can scan QR codes directly from the camera app. For older phones, a free QR scanner app from the app store will work.
